Terms of Service
Last updated: May 30, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of PDFMax, a free collection of online tools for working with PDF documents. By using the service you agree to these Terms in full. If you do not agree, please do not use PDFMax.
1. Acceptance of the Terms
By accessing, browsing, or using PDFMax in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you are using PDFMax on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use the service.
2. The Service Is Free and Provided "As Is"
PDFMax is offered free of charge for personal and commercial use. Many operations run entirely in your browser through WebAssembly, while others are processed by our own engine; in all cases your files are not sold or shared with third parties for marketing. The service is provided strictly on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any fee, subscription, or guarantee of uptime, throughput, or fitness for a particular purpose.
3. Acceptable Use
You may use PDFMax only for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms. You are solely responsible for the documents you upload or process and for ensuring you hold the rights necessary to do so. You agree not to use the service in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair it, or interfere with any other party's use of it.
4. Prohibited Use
You must not use PDFMax to upload, process, store, or distribute any content or to carry out any activity that:
- is illegal under any applicable law, or promotes or facilitates illegal activity;
- infringes the copyright, trademark, patent, trade-secret, privacy, or other rights of any person or entity;
- contains, transmits, or is designed to deliver malware, viruses, ransomware, or any other malicious or harmful code;
- constitutes child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that exploits or endangers minors, which we report to the appropriate authorities;
- is defamatory, harassing, hateful, fraudulent, or otherwise abusive;
- attempts to gain unauthorized access to the service, our systems, or related infrastructure, or to probe, scan, or test their vulnerability;
- seeks to overload, flood, or disrupt the service through automated requests, denial-of-service techniques, scraping at scale, or circumvention of usage limits.
We may, but are not obligated to, monitor for and remove access to content or activity that violates this section.
5. No Warranty
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDFMax and its operators disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that any document conversion or processing will produce a specific result. You use PDFMax at your own risk and are responsible for keeping your own backups of important files.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PDFMax and its operators, contributors, and suppliers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or business, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because the service is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service shall not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (USD 100).
7. Intellectual Property
PDFMax is built on the open-source Stirling-PDF engine, which is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3.0 (AGPL-3.0). Your use of the underlying engine is subject to that license. The PDFMax name, logo, branding, and site design are the property of their respective owners and may not be used without permission. You retain all rights to the documents you process; we claim no ownership over your content.
8. Changes to or Suspension of the Service
We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of PDFMax, including individual tools or features, at any time and without prior notice. We may also revise these Terms from time to time; the most current version will always be posted on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
9. Termination
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to PDFMax at our discretion, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law, or to protect the service and its users. Upon termination, the provisions that by their nature should survive — including those on intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable in the jurisdiction in which the service operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
11. Contact
